Micro Needling also known as CIT (Collagen Induction Therapy) is a used medically and cosmetically to treat the skin. A treatment proven to deliver results for scars, stretch marks, acne scarring to name a few when performed over a course of three to eight with 6-8 week intervals. It is also commonly used for face rejuvenation, pigmentation, lines and wrinkles, and loss of skin tone and elasticity on the face, neck and decolletage.
It is important that a qualified experienced practitioner performs the treatment to ensure the correct device, pressure and technique are chosen. Tracy has 20 years working with clients to help them achieve their skin goals and this medium is always one of the top treatments she recommends. A thorough consultation is paramount so that a full picture of lifestyle, health, nutrition, and the skin products used at home are taken into consideration before a prescribed treatment programme is recommended.
How it works? The skin is cleaned, and a topical numbing cream is applied for 15 minutes so not to feel any discomfort. Then a digital device is used with a new sterile cluster of needles to glide over the skin to create stimulation to achieve a brighter, smoother looking skin whilst targeting fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and scarring to produce new collagen and elastin. Alternative mediums are the dermal roller, normally used for larger areas and on large scar tissue or a sterile glass vial with gold plated short needles deliver a prescribed combination of meso skin cosmeceuticals from the WOW Fusion range into the skin to create a healthier, younger-looking skin for the face and body. Yes Tracy recommends a consultation before starting a course of skin treatments. She will go through your medical history, lifestyle, nutrition to have a full understanding of your skin and how it will heal. She will perform a quick cleanse of the area you wish to have treated or if for the face a full cleanse to assess the concern. She will then recommend the treatment plan and how many sessions needed.
It may be necessary to apply some topical pre numbing on the face to stop any discomfort. If a scar or burn she will not apply topicals as she needs to work differently on these areas to repair.
Yes you can return to work however, if the face be mindful of no makeup for 24 hours. Tracy will discuss this with you at consultation and your work environment may dictate if you can return immediately after the treatment.
Potential red skin for an hour or two up to 24 hours. For scars there could be some swelling. Tracy will recommend a selection of products for you to use to support the skin’s healing and repair. You can purchase these from her, or alternatives can be used. Depending on the length of the course of treatments you may be provided with her own brand as part of the fee.
